The "infoteka" website, which is under the control of Armenian special services, shared a video claiming that Israeli flags were burned in Baku. It is mentioned in the post that a group of unknown people took down the flag of Israel hanging on the streets of Baku and hung the flag of Palestine instead. The Armenian website described it as the dissatisfaction of young people with the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Israel.

Faktyoxla Lab. investigated whether the claims are true.

If you pay attention to the details in the published footage, it is clear that the video was not shot in Baku. Neither road signs nor streetlights belong to Baku.

On the other hand, there was no reason to hang the flag of the State of Israel in the capital of Azerbaijan. On the eve of June 7, 2023, when the video was shared, there was neither a visit by Israeli officials nor an international event with Israel’s participation.

According to the investigation of the Russian-language Azerbaijani Telegram channel "UDudaka", it is also noteworthy that the people who were raising the flag on the pole were in warm winter clothes. The channel also advises the admins of the Armenian site to watch the video until the end. At the end of the video, the "AGD Universite Komisyonu" (Anatolian Youth Association University Commission) logo is displayed.

If you search for the abbreviation "AGD" written in this logo, you can find out that it is "Anatolian Youth Association". If you search for the name of that association and the words "Israeli flag", you can learn the full details of the incident from many sources. For example, on March 9, 2022, the mentioned video was shared on the " AGD Ankara Şube Üniversite" Twitter profile. Besides, the video was published on the YouTube channel "AGD Ankara Şübe Universite Komisyonu".

Media outlets of most radical-nationalist and religious groups have also reported on this.

The Turkish media reports that the young people who protested the visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Türkiye on March 9-10, 2022, removed several Israeli flags from one of the main avenues in Ankara and replaced them with the Palestinian flag. The young people were members of the Anatolian Youth Association of the Millî Görüş religious-political movement.

Result:

- The video published on the infoteka.ru telegram channel of the Armenian special services with the title "Israeli flags were burned in Baku" is fake.

- The footage was not taken in Baku, but in Ankara on March 9, 2022.
